How to Use Almond Oil for Lips: Benefits, Cons & Recipes

Have you heard about using almond oil for lips? If you’re like me and a little late to that party, let’s talk about why this has become one of the best lip treatments today.

Almond oil, as the name suggests, is made from almonds. They are a great source of fiber, phytochemicals, vitamins, and minerals as well as good fats.

So, in other words, a nutty powerhouse of nutrients!

There are also two other kinds of almond oil: sweet and bitter. The one that is used in skincare is sweet almond oil.

Benefits of Using Almond Oil For Lips

Almond oil:

  1. Keeps your lips hydrated.
  2. Helps to revitalize lips by eliminating any dead skin cells.
  3. Help to lighten Dark Lips.
  4. Protect lips from harsh UV light – preventing them from getting dark.
  5. Helps to cure cracked lips by keeping the lips moisturized
  6. Helps to heal any wounds or cuts on your lips
  7. Prevent & treat certain infections

Generally, almond oil is said to be rich in vitamin E, magnesium, phosphorus, and copper. It is also a great antioxidant and it has anti-inflammatory properties as well. All of these can be beneficial for the lips and skin.

Can Almond Oil Make Lips Pink?

Using almond oil consistently over time will help the lips to maintain a healthy pink complexion, especially if you do not have a genetic tendency for darker lips.

It does this by:

  1. Rejuvenating your lips by removing dead skin cells

This allows new healthier skin cells to grow which tend to be less pigmented.

  1. Keeping Lips Hydrated

The fatty acids included in almond oil have an emollient quality which will help to maintain moisture. This keeps your lips soft and smooth, effectively lightening them.

The vitamin E in almond oil helps to maintain the health of your lips and shields them from UV radiation that can darken them.

How Long Will It Take To See Results When Using Almond Oil For Lips

When you see visible results will depend on the condition of your lips and your consistency.

Like all skincare treatments, even almond oil, as powerful as it seems to be, is not a miracle ingredient. It will take time and consistent effort to heal your lips and produce visible results.

Depending on what you are treating, you should begin to see changes in the condition of your lips within the first week of use, especially for chapping or dry lips.

If you are treating lip darkness, the results might be slower, especially if the darkness is being caused by something that you are still regularly doing (for example, smoking, taking certain medications, etc).

For the best results, remain consistent and practice good lip care every day.
